It’s day two of Meritas Annual Meeting and most all of the participants are engaged in the main program and break-out sessions. Member firms from over 50 countries (from South Africa to China to Spain to India to Australia to Cyprus to Russia and so on) and the 50 US states are here.
It’s been great to catch up with old friends and colleagues and make new ones. I’ve already participated in some productive programs like “Going Global: Are You Ready To Provide Your Clients The Help They Need.” I’m looking forward to the Keynote Address, “The Impact of the Emerging Global Economy” by Jean Charest, Premier of Quebec and Pierre Pettigrew, Deloitte & Touche.
Tomorrow morning looks pretty good:
Foreign Investment in US Real Estate – How does a foreign investor structure the investment? How does the investor repatriate it’s investment? What are the tax consequences? Can the tax impact be minimized?
Cross Border Taxes – What’s the impact of treaties on M&A transactions. How are deals being structured? What’s hot in the market?
Email me if you would like more information about the programs.
Well, back to the program for now.
