Vision/Mission

Women dedicated to women and the belief that we are stronger and more proficient if we work together to help one another succeed.

Our mission is to promote the advancement of all women while drawing on the particular legal expertise of each of the firm's women attorneys to connect with other women leaders throughout New Jersey and New York and to enhance the marketability of the female attorneys of Norris McLaughlin & Marcus, P.A.

Goals

Present periodic educational programming for clients, prospects, business partners and members of the community drawing on the specialized knowledge and experience of each of its members.

Maintain and enhance the firm's relationships with several select local, state and national charities by sponsoring, hosting and planning events and activities to benefit such charities.

Be involved in the region's business, legal, charitable, civic and women's groups and organizations, serving in leadership roles, promoting positive change for all women and establishing fruitful relationships with colleagues.

To achieve its mission, the Forum hosts, attends and sponsors various educational, charitable and social activities geared toward women in business and leadership roles.

Past Events

The Forum has made strides, literally and figuratively, to achieving its mission, including:

  • June 2007 - The Forum sponsored the annual Girls On The Run race, which trained more than 500 girls in Somerset County for their first 5K run in addition to promoting fitness and well-being. Members of the Forum also served as volunteers on race day. For more information about Girls On the Run, please visit www.girlsontherun.org/newjersey.
  • September 2007 - The Forum presented the first in a series of educational seminars designed to inform business leaders of the legal issues surrounding technology, records management and retention, e-discovery and other related issues associated with running a business.




  • October 2007 - The Forum hosted the inaugural Fall Festival of the Arts, a cocktail reception with live and silent auctions to benefit the Somerset County Resource Center for Women and Their Families and the Lung Cancer Circle of Hope, raising over $19,000.
  • May 2008 - The Forum participated in the first annual Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure in North Jersey. The race was held on Sunday May 4, 2008, at the Essex County Branch Brook Park in Newark, New Jersey. The money raised by the team goes towards breast cancer research, education, screening and treatment programs in our community.
  • October 2008 - Fall Festival of the Arts
    The Forum hosted the second annual Fall Festival of the Arts on Thursday, October 16, 2008, from 6:00 to 9:00 PM, at the Basking Ridge Country Club. The Fall Festival is a cocktail reception with live and silent auctions. The event benefited the Somerset County Resource Center for Women and Their Families, raising over $17,500.
  • November 2008 - Client Seminar
    The Forum hosted a seminar entitled When to Call Your Lawyer? Seminar for Business Owners and Executives on Tuesday, November 18, 2008, from 8:30 AM to 12:00 PM, at the Bridgewater office of Norris McLaughlin & Marcus. Members of the Forum covered a broad range of topics, including contracts and leases, tax, copyright and trademark, e-discovery, and work harassment investigations.
  • May 2010 - The Shoe ... Must Go On Ladies Night Out Networking Reception
    The Norris McLaughlin & Marcus Women’s Forum collected and donated over 75 pairs of shoes to the Resource Center of Somerset from charity drive held at its Ladies' Night Out Networking Reception.  The reception was held at the Morris Museum, where guests enjoyed "The Shoe … Must Go On" exhibition.  The exhibit explored more than fifteen themes and featured footwear of distinguished individuals who share a special connection to the state of New Jersey, including Governor Chris Christie and Thomas Edison, among many others.
