Cory P. Balliet, an associate in the Allentown office, concentrates his practice on business law, mergers and acquisitions, and health care law.
Cory’s business practice involves counseling entrepreneurs, closely-held businesses, small, mid-size, and large companies, and banks on the following matters: selection, formation, registration, and organization of business entities; corporate operations, including mergers, consolidations, acquisitions, asset and stock purchases, real estate purchases, and dissolutions; commercial transactions, including project financing, commercial loans, secured transactions, liens, and sales of goods; business personnel issues, such as employment agreements and deferred compensation plans; business taxation planning; and other general business matters.
Cory also has experience representing health networks, hospitals, physician groups, self-funded health benefit plans, and other health care-related entities on a wide range of issues, including entity formation and operation; mergers and acquisitions; affiliation arrangements; HIPAA and HITECH Act compliance; fraud and abuse matters; payment and reimbursement disputes; and employment, professional services, and call coverage agreements.
While in law school, Cory was an Executive Editor and Senior Board Member of the Syracuse Law Review, a graduate assistant in Syracuse University’s Whitman School of Management, and a recipient of the College of Law Alumni Scholarship. He was also an intern for a federal judge in the United States District Court for the Northern District of New York and in the Office of the Corporation Counsel for the City of Syracuse. Prior to law school, Cory worked in the finance department of a large, regional hospital network.
