Smith Presents Pennsylvania Bar Institute Course on Distressed Properties

Allentown, PA (April 30, 2012) – Charles F. Smith, Jr., a Member of Norris McLaughlin & Marcus, P.A., formerly Tallman, Hudders and Sorrentino, will present “Short Sales, Deeds in Lieu, Receiverships,” on May 17, 2012, from 12:00 to 3:45 p.m., at the PBI Conference Center in Mechanicsburg. The course is being hosted by the Pennsylvania Bar Institute (PBI).

“The bottoming out of the real estate market has led to record numbers of mortgage foreclosures. Knowing the nuts and bolts of short sales, deeds in lieu of foreclosure, and receiverships is essential for real estate practitioners in today’s economic climate,” explained Smith.

Smith will offer a brief overview on issues related to distressed properties and provide insight into the short sale process, including obtaining approval from the mortgagee and the roles of the parties involved in closing the deal. To register or for more information, visit www.pbi.org.

The PBI, the continuing legal education arm of the Pennsylvania Bar Association, is a fully self-supporting, non-profit organization that strives to provide Pennsylvania lawyers with high-quality information that is timely, practical, and cost effective. Programs are taught and books are written by practicing lawyers, judges, and law professors who are widely recognized as leading experts in their fields, and who have proven their abilities as teachers, public speakers, and writers.
