In light of the ongoing Department of Justice and U.S. Treasury initiatives regarding access to foreign financial account information, Norris McLaughlin & Marcus presents a breakfast seminar entitled "Off-Shore Unreported Income Issues: Protecting Against Criminal and Civil Liability In Today's Expanding Enforcement Environment." - The new IRS Offshore Voluntary Disclosure Program and participation considerations
- New legislation and activity regarding off-shore account issues
- The tax advisor's role in off-shore tax compliance
- The tax advisor's role when faced with potential tax fraud cases
- How the tax advisor can protect himself when a client has engaged in potential tax fraud
Speakers will include NM&M partners John Eagan and Melinda Fellner Bramwit, who will talk about OVDP issues, reporting of financial accounts, and voluntary disclosure options; Vinay Navani, CPA, from Wilkin & Guttenplan, who will review the compliance process for off-shore accounts; and NM&M partner Ted Margolis, former Chief Assistant United States Attorney of New Jersey, who will discuss tax fraud case issues pertinent to tax advisors.
