Jeanne Hamburg Presents Legal Workshop on Intellectual Property at SURTEX
New York, NY (May 11, 2012) – Jeanne M. Hamburg, a Member of Norris McLaughlin & Marcus, P.A. and Chair of its Internet Law Group, will lead a workshop, “Opportunities and Challenges of Internet Marketing and Social Media in the Expanding Digital World,” at the SURTEX 2012 Conference, Art & Design Business Perspectives: Bottom Line Success for Designers, Manufacturers and Retailers. She will cover several aspects of protecting brands and creative works while marketing and selling goods on the internet. The conference will be held from Sunday, May 20, to Tuesday, May 22, at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York City. Hamburg’s workshop will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 22.
“The web generally, and Facebook, Twitter, and other social networks in particular, offer unique opportunities to communicate with others, raise awareness, spark action to buy, and gather market intelligence, leads, support, and shared insight. And this exposure means greater challenges in protecting creative expression and brand integrity and exclusivity,” said Hamburg.
SURTEX is a dynamic market filled with the latest trend-on artwork, designers, and licensors from around the world. Over 300 exhibitors, selling and licensing the most diverse art & design, draw some 6,000 quality buyers and licensees - top decision-makers from manufacturers and retailers of all product categories. This incredible business-building opportunity for those in the art and design world includes exciting exhibits, networking events, an information-packed conference program, a fun-filled opening night party, and co-located shows.
Hamburg has expertise in all aspects of trademark and copyright law, handling both transactions and litigation. Resident in the firm’s New York City office, she assists clients in a broad range of industries with their intellectual property needs.

Hamburg earned her J.D. from Columbia University School of Law, where she was a member and editor of the Columbia Law Review, in 1990, and her B.A., magna cum laude, in English from Wellesley College in 1987.
