Business Seminar Presented by Norris McLaughlin & Marcus Women’s Forum
Somerville, NJ (October 31, 2008) – The Norris McLaughlin & Marcus Women's Forum is proud to present “When To Call Your Lawyer: A Seminar for Business Owners & Executives.” This program will offer practical information on topics of interest to business owners and executives. The seminar will be held at the firm’s Bridgewater office on November 18, 2008 from 8:30 a.m. to 11:45 a.m.
Among the topics to be discussed are Contract Trouble Spots, Leases – Commercial Tenants, Workplace Harassment Investigations, Copyright & Trademark Issues, E-Discovery Trends and Emerging Tax Issues. The attorneys who will be presenting are Stefanie McNamara, Rikki Field, Annmarie Simeone, Margaret Raymond-Flood, Andrea Glaser and Melinda Fellner Bramwit. It will be moderated by Marion K. Littman and M. Karen Thompson.
The Norris McLaughlin & Marcus Women’s Forum is comprised of approximately 30 women attorneys who excel in their areas of legal expertise. The mission of the NMM Women’s Forum is to promote the advancement of all women while drawing on the particular legal expertise of its members in cooperation with other women leaders throughout New Jersey and New York.
Stefanie R. McNamara, an associate with the firm, is experienced in transactional, corporate governance and compliance matters, including general corporate representation of various business entities. She handles buyer/seller, shareholder and operating agreements for small and mid-sized companies. Stefanie regularly represents business management and individuals in the negotiation and preparation of employment and severance agreements. Stefanie earned her J.D., cum laude, from Boston University School of Law in 2001, a Master of Public Health, Health Administration, from the University of South Carolina in 1997, and a B.S. in Biological Sciences in Exercise Physiology from Rutgers College in 1995. She is a member of the New Jersey and Somerset County Bar Associations, as well as the American Health Lawyers Association.
Rikki L. Field, a member of the firm, spent 13 years as Senior Vice President and Assistant General Counsel at First Union Corporation prior to reentering private practice in 2001. Rikki continues to use the unique experience that she acquired at First Union for the benefit of her clients. She represents financial institutions and other clients in their commercial real estate, commercial and community development-related lending activities, including acquisition and construction lending, secured commercial lending, interest rate swaps and other hedging transactions. She is also experienced in commercial real estate transactional matters, including sales and purchases of industrial parks, apartment buildings and shopping centers; leases of industrial property and office buildings; land use and zoning applications; and landlord/tenant matters. Rikki earned her J.D. from the University of Pennsylvania Law School in 1981 and her A.B., summa cum laude, from Washington University in 1978. She is a member of the New Jersey Bar and the Industrial Commercial Real Estate Women.
Annmarie Simeone, a member of the firm, concentrates her practice on labor & employment litigation, breach of contract actions and business torts. She has a wide range of experience in labor & employment litigation in both federal and state courts, primarily defending management in discrimination and sexual harassment claims, wrongful discharge suits, and claims brought under the New Jersey Law Against Discrimination, Americans With Disabilities Act, the Family and Medical Leave Act, and a multitude of other civil rights and anti-discrimination laws. In addition, Annmarie represents parties in breach of contract claims, shareholder disputes and actions involving restrictive covenants and confidentiality agreements. She earned her J.D. from Seton Hall University in 1993 and her B.A., summa cum laude, from St. John’s University in 1990. She is admitted to the New Jersey Bar and is a member of the New Jersey State, Middlesex County and Somerset County Bar Associations, as well as the National Association of Women Lawyers. She is a member of the Board of Trustees for the Resource Center for Women and Their Families.
Margaret Raymond-Flood, a member of the firm and co-chair of the REDI Group, devotes her practice to general litigation with an emphasis on intellectual property, environmental and contract cases. Margaret has extensive litigation experience including pretrial procedure, motion practice, and taking and defending depositions of corporate representatives, employees and expert witnesses throughout the country. She has tried complex matters involving electronic discovery on both the state and federal levels, and she has used state-of-the-art technology as part of her trial preparation and presentation. In addition, she lectures nationally about the use of innovative courtroom technology and electronic discovery. Margaret is a 1991 graduate of Seton Hall University School of Law and a 1988 magna cum laude graduate of Seton Hall University. She served as Law Clerk to the Honorable Neil H. Shuster, Presiding Judge of the Mercer County Civil Division in the Superior Court of New Jersey. Margaret is admitted to the Bar in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey and the District of Pennsylvania. She is a member of the Somerset County Bar Association.
Andrea Silverstein Glaser, an associate with the firm, practices in the firm’s Intellectual Property and Litigation Groups. In the area of intellectual property, Andrea has prosecuted Uniform Domain Name Dispute Resolution Proceedings with WIPO and NAF, and prosecuted and defended opposition and cancellation proceedings in the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board. She also has experience in global trademark prosecution and licensing. She earned her J.D. from Hofstra University School of Law in 2001 and her B.A., summa cum laude, from University of Buffalo, The State University of New York in 1997. She is admitted to practice law in the state and federal courts of New Jersey and New York.
Melinda Fellner Bramwit, Of Counsel to the firm, concentrates her practice on tax matters. Melinda is experienced in many aspects of tax planning, including corporate issues, partnership and estate tax issues as well as compliance and litigation issues and advice to start-up businesses. Melinda has assisted clients in structuring mergers and joint ventures, drafting and negotiating contracts and has researched various transactional tax issues including foreign tax concerns. She represents a variety of local tax-exempt organizations and has written opinion articles for the New Jersey Law Journal. She is also a former adjunct instructor at Rutgers-Newark in the area of Fundamentals of Federal Income Tax. Melinda earned an LL.M in Taxation from New York University School of Law in 1997, a J.D. from Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law in 1992 where she wrote for the International Law Journal, and a B.A. in French Literature from Cornell University in 1989.
