John Vanarthos to Speak at the Women in Flavor and Fragrance Commerce Fall Seminar

Bridgewater, NJ (October 30, 2009) – John N. Vanarthos, a Member of the Bridgewater-based law firm of Norris McLaughlin & Marcus, P.A. and Chairman of its Corporate Law Department, along with Dietmar Hirt, Managing Director of Conexus Capital Advisors, Inc., will speak at the Women in Flavor and Fragrance Commerce Fall Seminar, entitled Flavor & Fragrance Industry and the Economy: Roadmap to Survive and Win. The event will be held on Wednesday, November 4, 2009, from 8:00 am to 2:00 pm, at the Saddle Brook Marriott in Saddle Brook, NJ. Vanarthos and Hirt will discuss the status of the flavor and fragrance industry and strategies to survive and succeed in the current economy.

Women in Flavor and Fragrance Commerce, Inc. was founded in 1982 by women employed in various capacities in the U.S. flavor and fragrance industry. The organization was born out of a recognized need for a networking, education and support system for women in the industry. The mission has been and remains to this day to provide a center of education, camaraderie, support and networking opportunities for women in the industry. Vanarthos, a resident of Highland Park, has devoted his practice to helping companies, both large and small, with their business legal needs.

As a business lawyer, Vanarthos regularly represents and counsels the firm's corporate clients in a wide range of commercial transactions, including mergers, acquisitions, corporate partnerships and other strategic alliances. He has a substantial amount of industry-specific experience including pharmaceutical, medical device manufacturing, chemical, information technology and health care, among others. He also advises a number of high-tech companies in the areas of technology licensing, information management and product development.

Vanarthos serves as counsel for the United States operations of a number of foreign-based corporations where he is responsible for all legal issues in the U.S. including general corporate advice, contract and tax matters, litigation management and employee relations.

Over the years, Vanarthos has represented a number of individual entrepreneurs and startup companies. He has strategically guided them from idea conception to exit strategy, solving their legal problems along the way.

As Chairman of the firm’s Corporate Law Department, Vanarthos is responsible for staffing corporate matters to maximize efficiencies for the client, which includes identifying the proper level of expertise for each matter. Therefore, Vanarthos takes pride in fully understanding the goals and needs of each of the firm’s corporate clients, as well as ensuring exceptional client service. He is a frequent speaker and author on a wide range of corporate law topics, which are relevant to the firm's clients.

Vanarthos earned his J.D. from Rutgers School of Law - Newark in 1987 and his B.A. from Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, in 1979.
