Property Tax Appeal Deadline Is Upon Us

Posted on April 1st, 2011 | Author: Tim McKeown

Hopefully, if you planned on filing a property tax appeal after you saw my post back in February, Property Tax Appeals Can Save Money, or my colleague Nick Pellitta’s post last June,  Successful Tax Appeals Can Be Very Appealing, you did it then, because The Star Ledger is reporting that “N.J. county tax boards prepare for avalanche of appeals from homeowners as deadline looms.”  Due to the struggling housing market, appeals have increased drastically.  Last year, property tax appeals for residential, commercial and industrial properties, “were at their highest numbers statewide since the 1992 recession, and county officials and experts say that mark may be equaled or surpassed this year.”  There were 74,228 tax appeals.  I would prefer to be at the top, rather than the bottom, of that pile.
