Kenneth M. Kaplan, Of Counsel to the firm, focuses his practice on corporate and business law.
Ken has extensive experience representing public and private businesses in a wide variety of transactions including mergers, acquisitions, financing, licensing, consulting, development, distribution, marketing and strategic alliance matters. His experience in commercial transactions has a particular emphasis on technology, advertising, telecommunications and entertainment matters. Ken has completed more than one thousand transactions for businesses throughout the United States. He also routinely serves as lead counsel on complex acquisition and financing transactions including mergers, acquisitions and venture capital matters.
Ken takes a hands-on personalized and practical approach to the practice of law. He believes it is imperative to understand a client's business philosophy, economic drivers and risk factors. In doing so, Ken serves as a trusted advisor to his clients. He understands what keeps his clients up at night and is able to proactively assist his clients in capitalizing on new opportunities and minimizing risk. Ken typically serves as more than just a legal advisor to his clients. He becomes part of a client's strategic planning team and is that "one call" a client makes when contemplating an important transaction or presented with a significant issue. Ken’s pragmatism is also a key to his practice. Ken does not waste time dealing with theoretical concerns. He gets the issues resolved.
Ken spent his first ten years of practice with the firm and left in 2000, as a member, to pursue an in-house opportunity. In his almost 20 years of experience, Ken has served as in-house counsel to several corporations, including Citigroup, IDT and Net2Phone. Prior to rejoining the firm, he formed Kaplan Law, LLC, which he continues to manage.
