Michael J. Locke

Associate | New Jersey

Michael J. Locke joined the firm after spending three years with the New Jersey Office of the Attorney General.  As a Deputy Attorney General, Michael led a trial team that handled complex, white-collar criminal and regulatory matters.  He investigated and prosecuted cases involving insurance fraud, securities fraud, money laundering, racketeering, and other related financial crimes.  As such, Michael has worked closely with many of the country’s largest insurance companies and financial institutions as well as state and federal regulators.

During that time, Michael was the keynote speaker for the New Jersey Insurance Auditors Association due to his work investigating and prosecuting workers’ compensation and general liability insurance fraud.  In recognition of his outstanding performance, Michael received the 2014 Prosecutor’s Award.

Upon joining the firm, Michael leveraged his diverse white-collar experience to offer a unique perspective to businesses seeking advice on a broad range of commercial matters.  He counsels businesses of all sizes on issues involving mergers and acquisitions, shareholder and operating agreements, start-up operations, and securities regulations.

While in law school, Michael was an executive board member of the Environmental Law Society, and he continues to be involved in environmental awareness, outreach, and action efforts.  He is especially focused on working with businesses that seek to maximize their commercial success while minimizing their environmental and collateral impacts.  He also studied abroad in Beijing and interned at the United States Attorney’s Office for both the District of New Jersey and the Eastern District of New York.
