Matthew Sorrentino Receives Executive Spotlight Award from Eastern Pennsylvania Business Journal

Matthew Sorrentino, Managing Partner of Tallman Hudders & Sorrentino, P.C., the Pennsylvania office of Norris McLaughlin & Marcus, P.A., was recognized by the Eastern Pennsylvania Business Journal with the Executive Spotlight Award for his commitment to business excellence and community service. He was presented with the award at the Business Expo 2009 Executive Mixer Spotlight Awards Ceremony on Wednesday, October 7, 2009, at the Allentown Fairgrounds AgriPlex Annex.

The Eastern Pennsylvania Business Journal is a weekly business newspaper based in Bethlehem, PA. The Journal services business owners, managers and professionals in an eight-county region consisting of Berks, Lehigh, Northampton, Carbon, Schuylkill, Monroe, northern Bucks and northern Montgomery counties.

Sorrentino, a resident of Allentown, focuses his practice on health care, general corporate and business, and real estate law. He has served as lead counsel in numerous real estate and commercial acquisition transactions involving institutional health care providers. He has led the development and implementation of the Lehigh Valley’s major health care joint ventures including MRI centers, ambulatory surgical centers and several medical office buildings.

Sorrentino serves as general counsel to Lehigh Valley Hospital and Health Network, the region’s largest health care provider and employer. He also serves as general counsel to: Health Network Laboratories, a regional clinical laboratory with annual revenue in excess of $80 million; Lehigh Valley Physician Group, a multispecialty, nonprofit physician practice with in excess of 400 physicians; and Anchor Health Properties, LLC, a national developer of innovative facilities dedicated to health and wellness.

Sorrentino has served as lead counsel to several clients in their acquisition by, and merger into, Fortune 100 corporations with transaction values from $5 million to $125 million, as well as to a business client in the acquisition of a multistate division of a Fortune 100 corporation. He has also served as lead counsel to several clients in public finance transactions with transaction values from $10 million to $50 million.

Early in his career, Sorrentino was lead defense counsel for various municipalities, handling several seminal cases before the appellate courts in the development of Pennsylvania’s Municipal Subdivision Tort Claims Act.

In addition to being the Managing Partner of the firm’s Pennsylvania office, Sorrentino currently serves as Lehigh County solicitor, managing a staff of 18 full- and part-time staff attorneys for the County. He is also a member of Northampton and Lehigh County Bar Associations and the American Health Lawyers Association. He has served on the Board of Directors of the Pennsylvania Society of Health Care Attorneys, as well as various other leadership positions, including Treasurer, Vice President, President-Elect, and President. Sorrentino is very active in the community, serving on the board of Communities in Schools and as past-chair of the board of the Da Vinci Center of Science and Technology.

Sorrentino earned his A.B. from Muhlenberg College in 1966 and his J.D. from Villanova University School of Law in 1975. He is admitted to the Bar of the Pennsylvania Supreme Court; United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, 1975; and United States Court of Appeals, Third Circuit, 1985.
