Matthew R. Sorrentino, Esq., Chairman and Managing Partner of Norris McLaughlin & Marcus, P.A., will speak at the 13th Annual International Street Medicine Conference sponsored by the Lehigh Valley Health Network. The conference, to be held in Allentown from Wednesday, October 18, to Saturday, October 21, is open to all audiences. Sorrentino will present “Volunteer Considerations Regarding Street Medicine.” The presentation will include whether an employee of a private non-profit can perform volunteer services for the employer, whether students or other non-employees can perform volunteer services for a non-profit, whether volunteers are covered by workers’ compensation insurance, and what the rules and regulations are pertaining to dispensing medication on the street. He serves as Lehigh County Solicitor, managing a staff of 18 full- and part-time staff attorneys for the county. Sorrentino is outside counsel to Lehigh Valley Health Network, the region’s largest health-care provider and employer; Health Network Laboratories, a regional clinical laboratory with annual revenue of more than $100 million; Lehigh Valley Physician Group, a multi-specialty, nonprofit physician practice with more than 600 physicians; and Anchor Health Properties, LLC, a national developer of innovative facilities dedicated to health and wellness.
